Supporting the Wild Psyche in Modern Life

Nature-Informed Enneagram Coaching, Retreats, and Courses

What if your Enneagram practice could contribute to healing the relationship between humans and the natural world?

You’ve discovered how helpful the Enneagram can be in getting you out of your personality “box” and developing compassion for others who are wired differently. Yet, you might still have a sense that something’s missing. A quiet conviction that, deep in your Being, there is more to this Inner Work Journey than simply becoming a less reactive version of yourself. Furthermore, as someone who loves nature, it pains you to see other humans–stuck in their own personality patterns–make choices that harm the Earth. You wonder how you might use your Inner Work to help heal the relationship between humans and Nature.

In Wild Enneagram work, we focus specifically on these questions of Nature & Soul, and we do so not by merely talking about the Enneagram in a different way, but by inviting Nature herself to participate in our process of Inner Work. We go outdoors and ask the Earth for guidance; we ask what she needs, rather than assuming we know best, and we listen to her answers. This humble curiosity is the backbone of our practice, and it’s what we cultivate in all of the programs at Wild Enneagram.

Wild Enneagram Programs

1) Enneagram Coaching

Enneagram Coaching is a great choice for exploring Wild Enneagram work if you’re seeking direct support for your own journey of Nature, Soul, and the Enneagram. In coaching, we go at your pace and focus on whatever you are most curious about or challenged by—all of the “typical” Enneagram questions are fair game (“What Type am I? How do I relate better to my partner? How can I be more Present?”), as well as questions around how to connect more deeply with Nature and with your soul’s deepest longings. I am currently taking applications for coaching clients—the first step is to schedule a free 30-minute Discovery Call.

2) Retreats & Custom Programs

If you represent an organization, team, church, or other group, you may contact me for a custom “Wild Enneagram” workshop at a location of your choosing. These can be virtual or in person and range from 1-hour “Lunch & Learns” to multi-day on-site retreats.

If you are interested in a custom program, please contact me directly at ben@wildenneagram.com

In addition, I have several retreats planned for 2025:

B.I.G. Retreat, Minnesota, May 2025

B.I.G. 2.0 Retreat, New Mexico, November 2025 (link coming soon; email me to get on the list)

Wild Enneagram Retreat, United Kingdom, September 2025 (link coming soon; email me to get on the list)

3) Enneagram Training Program

I run an accredited 5-month Enneagram Training Program twice per year. “Living the Wisdom” meets weekly on Tuesday evenings and is a cohort model that covers every key concept in the Enneagram system. The next enrollment is September 24th.

Applications are required for this program and scholarships are available. Learn more at the link below:

Bring Your “Type Work” into Nature

Learning and working with the Enneagram, as well as teaching and coaching others, has been invaluable to me personally. In my teens, understanding the Enneagram was an enormous help with relationships, making choices about my career path, and navigating anxiety and self-doubt. I have become more loving, understand people more, and am more compassionate with myself and others.  My life is richer because of it.  My coaching clients experience the same when they learn to use the Enneagram to move beyond personality into a more meaningful, authentic life.

But in all the Enneagram trainings I attended, something was missing: a connection with nature.  As an outdoor skills practitioner, I see how people change in nature; their personalities naturally take a step back to allow space for nature’s wisdom and healing power. They are able to go deeper with their own personal journeys and questions. They cultivate a greater awareness—with all of the senses, as these animal bodies evolved to do. This is true not only for practical purposes (such as how to build a fire in the rain) but also true for deep emotional challenges such as how to be Present to a loss or make a career change. Our souls and our Types and our gifts are all as much a part of nature as anything else.

In my approach, a connection with the earth is central to self-awareness and personal growth. While we do cover the fundamentals of Type (as explored in the teachings of Don Riso and Russ Hudson), “Wild Enneagram” work is more soul-based and explicitly nature-informed.

In Wild Enneagram Work,

You Will Develop:

A sense of truly belonging to the natural world by cultivating an “eco-centric” Enneagram practice. You’ll have encounters with the more-than-human world and connect your love for the planet with your inner work.

You Will Discover:

New ways to work with your type in nature (including cultivating the Essential Qualities and working with the Paths of Transformation for each Type) and deepen your own personal soul journey.

You Will Enjoy:

Making friends with other members of the Wild Enneagram community who will be doing similar outdoor journeys, and processing together the complexities of being human during this time of planetary change.

Ready to bring your Enneagram work into the wild?

"I'd never "had time" for connecting with Nature - I wasn't sure how to approach it, and I was caught up in the busyness of daily life. Ben's Wild Enneagram work has connected me with myself and with divine presence in the natural world in a way I'd never experienced before. I've found it deeply enriching and grounding."

-Valerie T

Hear from a few current Wild Enneagram students…

“My first trip to the waterfall during the Type Eight exercise shifted everything in how I was reacting to my worry about a loved one. Experiencing the Essential Qualities of the Types as they exist in Nature somehow integrated them into my Being, and completely changed how I was experiencing my situation. The impact was enormous on my day to day experience; I was really able to LET GO of the worry, fear and angry thoughts. Instead, I felt peaceful and free.”
